Khansaheb Sykes Assists with Chilled Water Network Flushing on Reem Island, Abu Dhabi
Khansaheb Sykes was hired to support the commissioning of a chilled water pipeline at the District Cooling Plant on Reem Island. Their primary objective? To carry out high-volume flushing of the chilled water network, whilst meeting specific flow and velocity requirements.
This project faced several challenges, such as difficult site conditions, with the ground being uneven and sandy with a tight working footprint.
Additionally, there were some design constraints. The client was able to provide the header pipes; however, the flange connection inlets were positioned extremely close together. They were positioned 0.5 meters apart with a 12” flange, when usually they are expected to be positioned around 2-3 meters apart in order to position the pumps.
