United Arab Emirates celebrates Golden Jubilee

The UAE is currently enjoying a four-day public holiday commemorating the country’s historic Golden Jubilee, with National Day on 2 December marking 50 years since the Emirates were founded.

Celebrations will begin with Commemoration Day today, prompting a number of festivities and special events to acknowledge the landmark anniversary.

More than half of UAE residents are expected to take a domestic vacation during this period – the majority of whom have indicated that Dubai will be their destination of choice. read more

Generational construction project reliant upon expertise of Khansaheb Sykes

The $1.37billion Shindagha Corridor is a five-phase project currently being undertaken by Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority. Aimed at improving various local roadways in the heart of the city, the development is expected to be completed in 2025.

The construction of a new underpass has now reached a critical stage, with a series of perimeter deep wells recently put in place to help tackle the presence of groundwater on site.

A number of Khansaheb Sykes engineers have assisted this process, recommending and installing a complex pumping arrangement to enable safe excavation. We also considered the need to remove groundwater pressure on the back side of a watertight cofferdam, providing greater stability for the shoring system. read more

Abu Dhabi petroleum company purchases dewatering solution

Last month, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) contacted us looking to buy a pump that could be used as a dewatering mechanism as and when required.

We proposed a Sykes hydraulic submersible unit complete with an H100S wet end, highlighting some of the benefits offered by this particular pump. Often used as an alternative to diesel driven pumps, this Hydraset is ideal for locations where a power source is unavailable or where low noise operation is essential. read more

Heaviest rainfall since 1996 necessitates Khansaheb Sykes’ help in UAE

Heavy downpours across the United Arab Emirates have brought much of the country to a standstill, breaking a 24-year record for rainfall in the region. The impact has been so severe that the Ministry of Infrastructure Development has allocated 20 task forces to monitor the situation, with people fearing for their businesses and livelihoods.

A spokesman for the federal authority explained: “The teams have been assigned to deal with three main tasks, which include the drainage of waterlogged roads, removing mud and heavy debris, as well as repairing roads that may have been damaged by the rain.” read more

WellPoint Dewatering Drilling Machine Sole Working

Khansaheb Sykes the UAE’s longest and most established Dewatering Solutions provider and Ground Water Control Specialist was recently awarded a dewatering project in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi which consists of a WellPoint Dewatering project covering a distance of approximately 15km.

As a result to our success on a similar project with the same Client then awarding of the project to us was straight forward.

Due to the eagerness to commence dewatering activities, a standalone drilling machine has been mobilized to site to commence drilling works before complete mobilization of the dewatering pumps and their associated accessories. read more
